Meet The Marathon Legend

Meet The Marathon Legend
October 15, 2019 mariane uehara

Coach Jonathan Lyau was an elite-level competitive runner during his racing days. Inducted into the Honolulu Marathon Hall of Fame in 2009, he’s mastered that distance and currently coaches hundreds of athletes to reach their goals. His easy-going demeanor and practical coaching style make him an excellent resource and we’re very blessed to have him on the team.

Favorite place to run in Hawaii

Shoreline route along Ala Moana, Waikiki, Kapiolani Park

Favorite pre-race snack

I don’t eat before races except when I run marathons and that would only be 1/2 a sports bar and water.

Favorite post-race snack

Cheetos and a Coke.

Hobbies

Watching movies on Netflix, playing in Fantasy Football leagues.

Tip to achieve goals

Staying consistent in training is the key. Don’t take big breaks. Set short term and long term goals so you can use those short term goals to help you get to the longer term goal. Have a plan.

Fun fact about you

I am a candy/snack Distributor. I don’t eat as healthy as most people think, probably far from it! I am a major snacker with a sweet tooth. I’ve never had a cavity in my life!
