This past October, two weeks after my hawaii ironman race, I went to San Diego for the first time. Friends had mentioned that I would love the active lifestyle, the nice weather, the unique shops, and the stunning nature. So to say the least I was extremely excited to see it all. We spent two weeks there, promoting BioAstin throughout the area, and searching for beaches and trails to run before and after work. Our days were intense and successful! Here the highlights of our trip…

jogging at Oceanside beach. Two weeks later my legs were still sore from ironman, but I couldn’t resist a run on the beach.
spending time with those handsome and fun boys, Davide, Tim, and Sam. and visiting running, bike and surfing shops.
running at the Balboa trails. Perfect rolling hills.
jogging and watching the sunset at Torrey Pines State beach. My legs were still a little stiff but it was worth it.
jogging around San Diego downtown (and I had to stop for a kiss & photo, right?). It’s the nicest and most mellow downtown area I ever seen. Where are all of the workers in San Diego?
jogging and enjoying the scenery in Chula Vista. Here is where they have the Olympic Training Center, and the facility looks amazing.
running at Coronado Beach Fire Pits. I could actually run, because my legs started to feel alive again. After the run we jumped into the cold ocean and saw a ton of monk seals! I wish I had a photo. Next time…
running at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Luckily, my legs finally felt great again, because it was one of the most stunning runs I have ever done. It’s a trail with an ocean view.
staying at the charming hotel The Lafeyette Hotel, a colonial-style mansion built in 1946. Our favorite thing about this hotel was the olympic-size pool, designed by John Weissmuller – one of the world fastest swimmers in the 1920’s.
My friends were right, San Diego is lovely! And if I had to pick my favorite thing about San Diego, I would choose the sunsets. Oh my…they were beautiful!
